Mobiler Musikservice is me, Jens-Peter Weismantel. My first DJ experience goes all the way back to 1992, followed by many years as a radio DJ on online radio. Since 2015 I have been self-employed, providing music for weddings, birthdays, family celebrations and other occasions where music, atmosphere and people should work together rather than compete.
I do not believe in forcing celebrations into one rigid template just because that makes planning feel easier. People celebrate differently, guests react differently, and the evening may look different for exactly that reason. I would much rather you tell me openly what you want than have some generic programme dumped on top of your event.
When to enquire
The most sensible time to enquire is as soon as your venue in Gommern is confirmed. During the main season from May to September, a lead time of roughly 6 to 12 months is a good guide. Outside that season, 1 to 3 months is often enough. Enquiring earlier still never hurts – it merely saves you the frustration of hoping for a date that may already be gone.
The off-season runs from October to April. Plan your party or Christmas party 1 to 3 months in advance. If you are getting married next year or planning a celebration between May and September, now is a very good time to coordinate your preferred dates early. Whether it is a birthday, pre-wedding party, anniversary or a larger celebration with family and friends: hosts want atmosphere, guests would ideally each like to hear their own music, and somewhere in between stands the DJ. Anyone who thinks I only have to press play and the rest will sort itself out either knows private parties only by hearsay or has been extremely lucky.
In Gommern, things usually work just like they do elsewhere: first you need a feel for the evening, then for the guests, and then for the right moment. Some people want to dance early, others only later, and others are simply thrilled when something comes on that they have not heard in years.
That is why I do not try to turn private parties into a pretend nightclub. My job is to shape an evening out of your guests, your occasion and your atmosphere – one that stays lively without pulling in five directions at once. When that works well, it looks easy. It is not.

Still looking puzzled? Good. That small bit of confusion was intentional. As at any celebration, poor planning can damage the evening, and well-meant surprises can throw a schedule off completely. The difference is that at an ordinary private party you can always say, “Next time we will do it better.” Ideally, a wedding only happens once.
That is why I prepare weddings more thoroughly than other events. The final planning meeting with the couple ideally takes place at the venue. I also coordinate with the best man, maid of honour or whoever is organising surprises, because their ideas can have a real impact on the flow of the evening. Staying in touch on the wedding day itself helps prevent awkward interruptions and keeps the celebration running naturally.
By the time couples start looking for a wedding DJ, the biggest venue question is usually already settled. Often the place is booked; sometimes there are still two or three favourites on the shortlist. Hotel Stadt Genthin may be one of them. The district of Jerichower Land offers plenty of options, and once the venue is taking shape it makes sense to ask about the DJ too.

Saxony-Anhalt is known for castles and historic buildings, so it is easy to assume the state must be full of fairy-tale wedding settings. Unfortunately, that picture is only partly true, because many of those sites are not actually available for private celebrations.
The region is also quite uneven when it comes to venue quality. The south offers more sophisticated choices, while the north often demands more creativity from couples who want something better than the obvious local option.
For that reason, many couples increasingly look towards places that offer more than a pretty façade: rural estates, barns, vineyards and green spaces with atmosphere. They may not always look like a palace dream, but they often make for the more convincing wedding setting.

New Year’s Eve has its own rhythm. First there is food, conversation and a bit of warming up, then the tension builds towards midnight and afterwards the party should be allowed to take off properly. Reading that arc is crucial, otherwise the celebration quickly turns into one of those nights where everyone is politely present but nobody ever really gets going.
And let us be honest: even a DJ would usually prefer to spend New Year’s Eve relaxing rather than working. If I am out instead, responsible for the atmosphere, that comes at a price. Anyone who finds that odd is welcome to imagine how many colleagues would gladly drive out on 31 December for an everyday fee. Exactly.

The best part is that nobody has to be a great singer. Karaoke still works when the notes only land somewhere in the same postcode. For the atmosphere, what matters more is that somebody starts. The rest usually follows by itself.
The package includes around 300 karaoke tracks for solo singers and duets, two wireless microphones, a monitor on a stand for the lyrics, playback through my sound system and song lists for browsing. In short: everything you need so a fun idea does not first turn into a technical problem.

At company parties, the difference often lies in the tone. Too stiff quickly feels forced, too relaxed can tip the wrong way if nobody guides the event properly. That is why it helps when music, announcements and technical setup do not stumble along separately but work together. Then a reception can feel pleasantly supported while still allowing a later transition into a genuine after-work celebration in the best sense of the word.
