My name is Jens-Peter Weismantel, and I did not suddenly discover yesterday that music and loudspeakers might make a business model. I have been DJing since 1992, later spent about ten years on online radio, and in 2015 I made the move into self-employment and have been working under my own name ever since.
What interests me far more than any artificial DJ show is how an evening needs to fit the people who are celebrating. I am not a fan of treating every event with exactly the same concept. If you already know clearly what you want, great. If you only have a rough direction in mind so far, that is perfectly fine as well. The rest can be worked out together.
When to enquire
The most sensible time to enquire is as soon as your venue in Wilhelmstadt is confirmed. During the main season from May to September, a lead time of roughly 6 to 12 months is a good guide. For me that does not mean working through a prepared list, but finding the right balance between singalongs, dancing, familiar favourites and the occasional breather.

That is exactly what makes weddings different from many other celebrations for me. Music, timing, surprises and atmosphere all interact much more closely. If something jars or slips out of place, people notice it far more quickly than they would at an ordinary party. I work through the schedule, the important highlights and the musical direction with my couples so the evening feels coherent rather than stiff. New Year’s Eve may start off relaxed, but by the time the countdown approaches it should be clear that this is not just about chilled sparkling wine – the party itself needs to mean business.
What many people underestimate is this: for service providers, New Year’s Eve is not some romantic exception, but a working date with particularly high demand. That is why the fee is noticeably higher than on a normal date. That is neither rip-off nor bad mood, just the difference between an ordinary Saturday and the one night when half the country wants to celebrate.
For commercial New Year’s Eve events in Wilhelmstadt, I currently offer a flat rate of 1.200 EUR plus 19% VAT for 2026, covering up to 200 guests, 6 to 8 hours of music plus sound and lighting for one room or hall. GEMA fees are additional.
This flat rate does not apply to private celebrations or club events. In those cases I look at the actual framework and make you an individual offer rather than throw some generic New Year’s Eve price at you.

An enquiry becomes an emergency case for me when it arrives less than 72 hours before music start time or when the actual booking only comes together within the final 48 hours beforehand. From that point on, this is no longer a normal planning process but damage control with very limited time. That is exactly why an emergency booking works differently from a normally prepared event.

I bring equipment, music, microphone work if required and enough routine to make something solid out of the situation even under time pressure. What you cannot expect is the usual level of detail preparation. I will not build elaborate individual playlists at the last minute, buy missing tracks or design the perfect running order for every programme item. What I do instead is quickly grasp what matters, set up properly and rescue an evening that looked very unstable shortly before.
