I do not believe in forcing celebrations into one rigid template just because that makes planning feel easier. People celebrate differently, guests react differently, and the evening may look different for exactly that reason. I would much rather you tell me openly what you want than have some generic programme dumped on top of your event.
How much lead time makes sense
As soon as you know where exactly you will be celebrating in Lichtenrade, it is worth getting in touch. During the season from May to September, 6 to 12 months is a good rule of thumb. Outside the season, 1 to 3 months is often enough. That does not mean nothing works later on – only that an early enquiry is usually the more relaxed option.

Whether it is a birthday, pre-wedding party, anniversary or a larger celebration with family and friends: hosts want atmosphere, guests would ideally each like to hear their own music, and somewhere in between stands the DJ. Anyone who thinks I only have to press play and the rest will sort itself out either knows private parties only by hearsay or has been extremely lucky.

What I mean by that slightly confusing opening is simple: weddings demand even more care than an ordinary family celebration. Quite rightly, couples aim for a very high level of perfection, because unlike a birthday party that went slightly wrong, you cannot just say, “We will do it better next year.” This day is meant to be uniquely beautiful.
That is exactly why every wedding is something special to me as a DJ. I prefer to prepare weddings together with the couple in a personal meeting at the venue itself. In that final conversation we go through every highlight of the celebration so as little as possible is left to chance and typical planning mistakes can be avoided. I also speak with the person taking on the role of toastmaster so that guests planning surprises get the support they need as well.
Anyone looking for a wedding DJ has usually already answered the biggest question about the celebration: the right venue. Often it is already booked, sometimes there is still a shortlist with two or three beautiful places nearby. Reglerhaus in Schöneberg may well be one of them. An enquiry becomes an emergency case for me when it arrives less than 72 hours before music start time or when the actual booking only comes together within the final 48 hours beforehand. From that point on, this is no longer a normal planning process but damage control with very limited time. That is exactly why an emergency booking works differently from a normally prepared event.

I bring equipment, music, microphone work if required and enough routine to turn something decent out of the situation even under time pressure. What you cannot expect is the usual level of detail preparation. I will not build elaborate individual playlists in the last minute, buy missing tracks or design the perfect running order for every programme item. What I do instead is quickly grasp what matters, set up properly and rescue an evening that looked very unstable shortly before.

That is exactly why such evenings rarely work like ordinary parties. Often there is a more formal part first, with speeches, awards, food or programme items, and later the event is supposed to turn into a proper celebration. At that point you very quickly notice whether music is merely being played somewhere or whether someone is actually carrying the evening from “still seated smartly at the tables” to “now we are finally celebrating”.
I support graduation events with the sound and equipment needed both for the programme and for the party afterwards, with solid audio and with the awareness that this evening is not only for a few friends, but often also for parents, teachers and other guests. That does not need to feel stiff, but it should not be chaotic either.
And one well-meant piece of advice before you get lost in decoration, themes and entrance ideas: book your DJ early. Graduation parties land right in the middle of a season already under pressure from weddings, summer parties and all sorts of other celebrations. Anyone leaving it too late should not be surprised if their preferred option has already gone.

At company parties, the difference often lies in the tone. Too stiff quickly feels forced, too relaxed can tip the wrong way if nobody guides the event properly. That is why it helps when music, announcements and technical setup do not stumble along separately but work together. Then a reception can feel pleasantly supported while still allowing a later transition into a genuine after-work celebration in the best sense of the word.
