I do not believe in forcing celebrations into one rigid template just because that makes planning feel easier. People celebrate differently, guests react differently, and the evening may look different for exactly that reason. I would much rather you tell me openly what you want than have some generic programme dumped on top of your event.
How much lead time makes sense

The classic occasion is of course a birthday, often a milestone one. But it can just as easily be a confirmation, coming of age, anniversary or simply a family gathering where people want something more than coffee and cake. For me that means looking closely, staying musically flexible and not pretending forty guests will automatically share the same three favourite songs.
Some people imagine the DJ’s job to be surprisingly simple: press a button, music plays, dance floor full. If only it worked that way, I could take a lot more breaks. Especially at private celebrations, the real work lies in bringing together very different guests musically without the evening falling apart.

Still looking puzzled? Good. That small bit of confusion was intentional. Just like at any other celebration, planning mistakes can damage a party or even kill it completely. The same goes for guests who crash the timetable with their “wonderful and unique surprise”. The difference is that mistakes at an ordinary private party can be corrected next time. At weddings they cannot, because ideally you only celebrate them once.
Weddings may not be unique to me, but each one is special, and my pre-event nerves make that clear enough. I prepare weddings more thoroughly than any other kind of event. The final planning meeting with my couples ideally takes place at the venue. Coordination with toastmasters or witnesses is part of that too, because they can make or break a wedding evening just as much. Ongoing communication on the wedding day itself also helps prevent awkward disruptions and contributes to a particularly beautiful overall experience.
Anyone looking for a wedding DJ has usually already answered the biggest question about the celebration: the right venue. Often it is already booked, sometimes there is still a shortlist with two or three beautiful places nearby. Villa on Lake Bernstein in Bitterfeld-Wolfen may well be one of them. If people are searching for particularly strong venues, the south of the state usually offers more choice. In the northern areas, it often takes more effort to find something that feels truly special and not just like a village inn dressed up for the weekend.
That is why couples in Saxony-Anhalt often end up choosing places where landscape, history and their own story can come together naturally – not always grand in the fairy-tale sense, but often much more fitting in the real one.

First there is food, conversation and a bit of warming up, then the tension builds towards midnight and afterwards the evening should be allowed to open up properly once more. Reading that arc is crucial, otherwise the celebration quickly turns into one of those nights where everyone is politely present but nobody ever really gets going.
And let us be honest: even a DJ would usually prefer to spend New Year’s Eve relaxing rather than working. If I am out instead, responsible for the atmosphere, that comes at a price. Anyone who finds that odd is welcome to imagine how many colleagues would gladly drive out on 31 December for an everyday fee. Exactly.

Especially at school sports days, club events or smaller tournaments, it helps enormously when announcements are clear, music appears at the right moments and the whole thing does not sound as though somebody balanced an old kitchen speaker on the sprinkler system at short notice.
For smaller sports grounds and sports halls, I bring suitable sound reinforcement myself. Wireless microphones for announcements, award ceremonies or a commentator are also no problem. And if the site is larger than my usual setup can sensibly cover, the whole thing can be scaled up via a partner company instead of producing half-baked nonsense.
Music can help hold such a day together: before the start, during breaks, at award ceremonies or exactly at those moments when the energy on site begins to dip. And if there is a celebration afterwards, I am naturally happy to remain on site as DJ for that part as well.

The best part is that nobody has to be a great singer. Karaoke still works when the notes only land roughly in the same postcode. For the atmosphere, what matters more is that somebody starts. The rest usually follows by itself.
The package includes around 300 karaoke tracks for solo singers and duets, two wireless microphones, a monitor on a stand for the lyrics, playback through my sound system and song lists for browsing. In short: everything you need so a fun idea does not first turn into a technical problem.
