My name is Jens-Peter Weismantel. I first started gaining experience as a DJ back in 1992, and later spent many years as a radio DJ in web radio. Since 2015 I have been self-employed under the name Mobiler Musikservice, providing music for celebrations where the soundtrack should not merely run in the background, but genuinely fit the occasion.
What matters to me is that a celebration should not follow some standard pattern that could simply be thrown over any group of guests. Every person is different, so every evening may look different as well. What do you want for your event? That is the question worth discussing properly, rather than relying on ready-made concepts.
When to enquire
The most sensible time to enquire is as soon as your venue in Wittenberge is confirmed. During the main season from May to September, a lead time of roughly 6 to 12 months is a good guide. The classic occasion is of course a birthday, often a milestone one. But it can just as easily be a confirmation, coming of age, anniversary or simply a family gathering where people want something more than coffee and cake. For me that means looking closely, staying musically flexible and not pretending forty guests will automatically share the same three favourite songs.
Some people imagine the DJ’s job to be surprisingly simple: press a button, music plays, dance floor full. If only it worked that way, I could take a lot more breaks. Especially at private celebrations, the real work lies in bringing together very different guests musically without the evening falling apart.

That is exactly what makes weddings different from many other celebrations for me. Music, timing, surprises and atmosphere all interact much more closely. If something sticks or slips there, people notice it far more quickly than they would at an ordinary party. That is why it is worth discussing the key points in advance instead of hoping improvisation will save the evening.
This is also why I prepare weddings more thoroughly than other events. I work through the schedule, the important highlights and the musical direction with my couples so the evening feels coherent rather than stiff. I also like to involve witnesses or toastmasters, because surprise contributions should support the celebration rather than trip it up.
The district of Prignitz offers a wide range of wedding venues. If you are already looking for a DJ, you have probably found your venue already, or perhaps even booked it. Maybe you still have a few lovely places nearby on your shortlist, possibly including venues such as Wolfshagen Castle Museum in Groß Pankow. One thing stays the same either way: ask about the DJ early, ideally around 12 months in advance. Popular dates tend to disappear especially fast.

There is also a noticeable shift in style. Instead of trying to stage the perfect fairy-tale wedding, many couples now prefer something more grounded, rustic and individual. Brick barns and converted rural spaces fit that mood perfectly and often offer the flexibility modern wedding celebrations really need.

Especially at school sports days, club events or smaller tournaments, it helps enormously when announcements are clear, music appears at the right moments and the whole thing does not sound as though somebody balanced an old kitchen speaker on the sprinkler system at short notice.
For smaller sports grounds and sports halls, I bring suitable sound reinforcement myself. Wireless microphones for announcements, award ceremonies or a commentator are also no problem. And if the site is larger than my usual setup can sensibly cover, the whole thing can be scaled up via a partner company instead of producing half-baked nonsense.
Music can help hold such a day together: before the start, during breaks, at award ceremonies or exactly at those moments when the energy on site begins to dip. And if there is a celebration afterwards, I am naturally happy to remain on site as DJ for that part as well.

That is exactly where karaoke shines. Guests entertain guests, someone suddenly discovers their inner pop star, and the rest of the room wavers somewhere between applause, laughter and loud support, depending on the talent level involved. Boredom is rarely an issue.
For that, I bring a ready-made karaoke package: about 300 songs in German and English, two wireless microphones, a 24.5-inch monitor on a stand for the lyrics and clean playback via my DJ system. Song lists are naturally included, too, so nobody has to guess what is available.

At company parties, the difference often lies in the tone. Too stiff quickly feels forced, too relaxed can tip the wrong way if nobody guides the event properly. That is why it helps when music, announcements and technical setup do not stumble along separately but work together. Then a reception can feel pleasantly supported while still allowing a later transition into a genuine after-work celebration in the best sense of the word.
