I have been DJing since 1992, later spent about ten years on online radio, and in 2015 I made the move into self-employment and have been working under my own name ever since.
What interests me far more than any artificial DJ show is how an evening needs to fit the people who are celebrating. I am not a fan of treating every event with exactly the same concept. If you already know clearly what you want, great. If you only have a rough direction in mind so far, that is perfectly fine as well. The rest can be worked out together.
When to enquire
The most sensible time to enquire is as soon as your venue in Waren is confirmed. During the main season from May to September, a lead time of roughly 6 to 12 months is a good guide. Outside that season, 1 to 3 months is often enough. Enquiring earlier still never hurts – it merely saves you the frustration of hoping for a date that may already be gone.

That is exactly what makes private celebrations interesting. Whether it is a milestone birthday, a coming-of-age celebration, a family anniversary or a silver wedding: everyone should have a good evening even though they rarely share exactly the same taste in music. For me that does not mean working through a prepared list, but finding the right balance between singalongs, dancing, familiar favourites and the occasional breather.

Still looking puzzled? Good. That small bit of confusion was intentional. As at any celebration, poor planning can damage the evening, and well-meant surprises can throw a schedule off completely. The difference is that at an ordinary private party you can always say, “Next time we will do it better.” Ideally, a wedding only happens once.
That is why I prepare weddings more thoroughly than other events. The final planning meeting with the couple ideally takes place at the venue. I also coordinate with the best man, maid of honour or whoever is organising surprises, because their ideas can have a real impact on the flow of the evening. Staying in touch on the wedding day itself helps prevent awkward interruptions and keeps the celebration running naturally.
The district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte offers plenty of wedding venues. If you are already looking for a DJ, chances are you have found your venue – perhaps you have even booked it. You may still have a few favourites nearby on your shortlist, possibly including Wrechen Cultural Estate in Feldberger Seenlandschaft. Either way, it is worth asking about the DJ early, ideally around 12 months before the date. Popular dates tend to go first.

New Year’s Eve has its own rhythm. First there is food, conversation and a bit of warming up, then the tension builds towards midnight and afterwards the party should be allowed to take off properly. Reading that arc is crucial, otherwise the celebration quickly turns into one of those nights where everyone is politely present but nobody ever really gets going.
And let us be honest: even a DJ would usually prefer to spend New Year’s Eve relaxing rather than working. If I am out instead, responsible for the atmosphere, that comes at a price. Anyone who finds that odd is welcome to imagine how many colleagues would gladly drive out on 31 December for an everyday fee. Exactly.

Music can create atmosphere without pushing itself to the front, smooth transitions and give a business event more life without making it feel like a disco. That is exactly what makes proms and other graduation celebrations so special: they are expected to be several things at once. A little formal, a little emotional, a little reflective, and later on a proper party too. That works well when the running order and the technical side are prepared properly instead of being pushed together in a panic on the night itself.
I can support that with suitable sound for speeches, video clips or programme items, with wireless microphones and of course with music once the official part should finally make way for party mood.
