Since 2015 I have been self-employed, providing music for weddings, birthdays, family celebrations and other occasions where music, atmosphere and people should work together rather than compete.
I do not believe in forcing celebrations into one rigid template just because that makes planning feel easier. People celebrate differently, guests react differently, and the evening may look different for exactly that reason. I would much rather you tell me openly what you want than have some generic programme dumped on top of your event.
The right time to get in touch
Once the venue for your celebration in Rahnsdorf is fixed, the enquiry can follow straight away. For dates between May and September, a lead time of around 6 to 12 months makes sense. Whether it is a milestone birthday, a coming-of-age event, a family anniversary or a silver wedding celebration: everyone should have a good evening even though musically they are rarely shopping in the same aisle. For me that does not mean running through a prepared list, but finding the right curve between singalongs, dancing, recognition and the occasional breather at the right moment.

What I mean by that slightly confusing opening is simple: weddings demand even more care than an ordinary family celebration. Quite rightly, couples aim for a very high level of perfection, because unlike a birthday party that went slightly wrong, you cannot just say, “We will do it better next year.” This day is meant to be uniquely beautiful.
That is exactly why every wedding is something special to me as a DJ. I prefer to prepare weddings together with the couple in a personal meeting at the venue itself. In that final conversation we go through every highlight of the celebration so as little as possible is left to chance and typical planning mistakes can be avoided. I also speak with the person taking on the role of toastmaster so that guests planning surprises get the support they need as well.
The borough of Treptow-Köpenick offers a wide range of wedding venues. If you are already looking for a DJ, you have probably found your venue already, or perhaps even booked it. Maybe you still have a few lovely places nearby on your shortlist, possibly including venues such as Stadium at Alte Försterei in Oberschöneweide. For me, emergency DJ service means this: your enquiry arrives later than 72 hours before music start time or the booking itself only happens within the final 48 hours before it. At that point, we are no longer talking about relaxed planning but about a short-notice operation with very clear limits.

Those limits should be known fairly. I no longer prepare the event in the usual detailed way, which means no extensive request and no-go lists and no miracles for songs I do not already have in stock. My job at that point is not to recreate a concept that was planned for months, but to use judgement, experience and a broad repertoire to put together a functioning and hopefully very good evening. For weddings, that also means it is wise to have alternative titles ready for the first dance and other fixed moments.

That is exactly why such evenings rarely work like ordinary parties. Often there is a more formal part first, with speeches, awards, food or programme items, and later the event is supposed to turn into a proper celebration. At that point you very quickly notice whether music is merely being played somewhere or whether someone is actually carrying the evening from “still seated smartly at the tables” to “now we are finally celebrating”.
I support graduation events with the sound and equipment needed both for the programme and for the party afterwards, with solid audio and with the awareness that this evening is not only for a few friends, but often also for parents, teachers and other guests. That does not need to feel stiff, but it should not be chaotic either.
And one well-meant piece of advice before you get lost in decoration, themes and entrance ideas: book your DJ early. Graduation parties land right in the middle of a season already under pressure from weddings, summer parties and all sorts of other celebrations. Anyone leaving it too late should not be surprised if their preferred option has already gone.

That is exactly where karaoke shines. Guests entertain guests, someone suddenly discovers their inner pop star, and the rest of the room wavers somewhere between applause, laughter and loud support, depending on the talent level involved. Boredom is rarely an issue.
For that, I bring a ready-made karaoke package: about 300 songs in German and English, two wireless microphones, a 24.5-inch monitor on a stand for the lyrics and clean playback via my DJ system. Song lists are naturally included, too, so nobody has to guess what is available.
