I do not believe in forcing celebrations into one rigid template just because that makes planning feel easier. When to enquire

For me that does not mean running through a prepared list, but finding the right curve between singalongs, dancing, recognition and the occasional breather at the right moment.

That is exactly why every wedding is something special to me as a DJ. I prefer to prepare weddings together with the couple in a personal meeting at the venue itself. In that final conversation we go through every highlight of the celebration so as little as possible is left to chance and typical planning mistakes can be avoided. An enquiry becomes an emergency case for me when it arrives less than 72 hours before music start time or when the actual booking only comes together within the final 48 hours beforehand. From that point on, this is no longer a normal planning process but damage control with very limited time. That is exactly why an emergency booking works differently from a normally prepared event.

I bring equipment, music, microphone work if required and enough routine to turn something decent out of the situation even under time pressure. What you cannot expect is the usual level of detail preparation. I will not build elaborate individual playlists in the last minute, buy missing tracks or design the perfect running order for every programme item. What I do instead is quickly grasp what matters, set up properly and rescue an evening that looked very unstable shortly before.

That is exactly why such evenings rarely work like ordinary parties. Often there is a more formal part first, with speeches, awards, food or programme items, and later the event is supposed to turn into a proper celebration. At that point you very quickly notice whether music is merely being played somewhere or whether someone is actually carrying the evening from “still seated smartly at the tables” to “now we are finally celebrating”.
I support graduation events with the sound and equipment needed both for the programme and for the party afterwards, with solid audio and with the awareness that this evening is not only for a few friends, but often also for parents, teachers and other guests. That does not need to feel stiff, but it should not be chaotic either.
