Who I am
My name is Jens-Peter Weismantel. I first started gaining experience as a DJ back in 1992, and later spent many years as a radio DJ on online radio. Since 2015 I have been self-employed under the name Mobiler Musikservice, providing music for celebrations where the soundtrack should not merely run in the background, but genuinely fit the occasion.
What matters to me is that a celebration should not follow some standard pattern that could simply be thrown over any group of guests. Every person is different, so every evening may look different as well. What do you want for your event? That is the question worth discussing properly, rather than relying on ready-made concepts.
The right time to get in touch
Once the venue for your celebration in Ruhland is fixed, the enquiry can follow straight away. For dates between May and September, a lead time of around 6 to 12 months makes sense. From October to April, 1 to 3 months is often enough. Of course there are always exceptions, but enquiring too early is usually far less of a problem than enquiring too late.
The off-season runs from October to April. Plan your party or Christmas party 1 to 3 months in advance. If you are getting married next year or planning a celebration between May and September, now is a very good time to coordinate your preferred dates early. Whether it is a birthday, pre-wedding party, anniversary or a larger celebration with family and friends: hosts want atmosphere, guests would ideally each like to hear their own music, and somewhere in between stands the DJ. Anyone who thinks I only have to press play and the rest will sort itself out either knows private parties only by hearsay or has been extremely lucky.
In Ruhland, things usually work just like they do elsewhere: first you need a feel for the evening, then for the guests, and then for the right moment. Some people want to dance early, others only later, and others are simply thrilled when something comes on that they have not heard in years.
That is why I do not try to turn private parties into a pretend nightclub. My job is to shape an evening out of your guests, your occasion and your atmosphere – one that stays lively without pulling in five directions at once. When that works well, it looks easy. It is not.

What I mean by that slightly contradictory opening is simple: weddings need even more care than an ordinary family celebration. Quite rightly, couples want the important details to be right, because unlike a birthday party that went slightly wrong, you cannot simply say, “We will do it better next year.” This day is meant to be special.
That is why I prepare every wedding carefully with the couple. I prefer the final planning meeting to take place at the venue itself, where we can go through the key moments and avoid the usual clashes in the schedule. I also like to involve the best man, maid of honour or whoever is coordinating surprises, so their plans support the celebration instead of colliding with it.
When couples start looking for a DJ, the venue is often already booked or at least close to being decided. Maybe you have made your choice; maybe you are still comparing two or three favourites nearby. Hotel & Restaurant "Zum Gutshof" in Neupetershain might be one of them. The district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz gives you plenty to choose from, and once the date and venue are becoming firm, it is best not to leave the DJ enquiry too long.

New Year’s Eve has its own rhythm. First there is food, conversation and a bit of warming up, then the tension builds towards midnight and afterwards the party should be allowed to take off properly. Reading that arc is crucial, otherwise the celebration quickly turns into one of those nights where everyone is politely present but nobody ever really gets going.
And let us be honest: even a DJ would usually prefer to spend New Year’s Eve relaxing rather than working. If I am out instead, responsible for the atmosphere, that comes at a price. Anyone who finds that odd is welcome to imagine how many colleagues would gladly drive out on 31 December for an everyday fee. Exactly.
For your commercial New Year’s Eve event in Ruhland, the current flat rate for 2026 is 1.200 EUR plus 19% VAT , covering up to 200 guests, 6 to 8 hours of music, sound and lighting and a complete celebration in one room or hall. GEMA fees are not included.

At company parties, the difference often lies in the tone. Too stiff quickly feels forced, too relaxed can tip the wrong way if nobody guides the event properly. That is why it helps when music, announcements and technical setup do not stumble along separately but work together. Then a reception can feel pleasantly supported while still allowing a later transition into a genuine after-work celebration in the best sense of the word.

That is exactly why such evenings rarely work like ordinary parties. Often there is a more formal part first, with speeches, awards, food or programme items, and later the event is supposed to turn into a proper celebration. At that point you very quickly notice whether music is merely being played somewhere or whether someone is actually carrying the evening from “still seated smartly at the tables” to “now we are finally celebrating”.
I support graduation events with the sound and equipment needed both for the programme and for the party afterwards, with solid audio and with the awareness that this evening is not only for a few friends, but often also for parents, teachers and other guests. That does not need to feel stiff, but it should not be chaotic either.
And one well-meant piece of advice before you get lost in decoration, themes and entrance ideas: book your DJ early. Graduation parties land right in the middle of a season already under pressure from weddings, summer parties and all sorts of other celebrations. Anyone leaving it too late should not be surprised if their preferred option has already gone.
