Who I am
My name is Jens-Peter Weismantel. I first started gaining experience as a DJ back in 1992, and later spent many years as a radio DJ on online radio. Since 2015 I have been self-employed under the name Mobiler Musikservice, providing music for celebrations where the soundtrack should not merely run in the background, but genuinely fit the occasion.
What matters to me is that a celebration should not follow some standard pattern that could simply be thrown over any group of guests. Every person is different, so every evening may look different as well. What do you want for your event? That is the question worth discussing properly, rather than relying on ready-made concepts.
The right time to get in touch
Once the venue for your celebration in Lassan is fixed, the enquiry can follow straight away. For dates between May and September, a lead time of around 6 to 12 months makes sense. From October to April, 1 to 3 months is often enough. Of course there are always exceptions, but enquiring too early is usually far less of a problem than enquiring too late.

The classic occasion is of course a birthday, often a milestone one. But it can just as easily be a confirmation, coming of age, anniversary or simply a family gathering where people want something more than coffee and cake. For me that means looking closely, staying musically flexible and not pretending forty guests will automatically share the same three favourite songs.
Some people imagine the DJ’s job to be surprisingly simple: press a button, music plays, dance floor fills. If only it worked that way, I could take a lot more breaks. Especially at private celebrations, the real work lies in bringing together very different guests musically without the evening falling apart.
In Lassan, that is no different from anywhere else. There too, people with very different ideas of party music sit around one table, and in the end as many of them as possible should feel that the evening felt right for them.

That is exactly what makes weddings different from many other celebrations for me. Music, timing, surprises and atmosphere all interact much more closely. If something jars or slips out of place, people notice it far more quickly than they would at an ordinary party. That is why it is worth discussing the key points in advance instead of hoping improvisation will save the evening.
This is also why I prepare weddings more thoroughly than other events. I work through the schedule, the important highlights and the musical direction with my couples so the evening feels coherent rather than stiff. I also like to involve the wedding party or toastmaster, because surprise contributions should support the celebration rather than trip it up.
When couples start looking for a DJ, the venue is often already booked or at least close to being decided. Maybe you have made your choice; maybe you are still comparing two or three favourites nearby. Bröllin Castle in Fahrenwalde might be one of them. That is exactly what I am bookable for as a DJ on New Year’s Eve. If the evening only truly catches fire around midnight, a slow musical stroll does not help. New Year’s Eve may start off relaxed, but by the time the countdown approaches it should be clear that this is not just about chilled sparkling wine – the party itself needs to mean business.
What many people underestimate is this: for service providers, New Year’s Eve is not some romantic exception, but a working date with particularly high demand. That is why the fee is noticeably higher than on a normal date. That is neither rip-off nor bad mood, just the difference between an ordinary Saturday and the one night when half the country wants to celebrate.
For commercial New Year’s Eve events in Lassan, I currently offer a flat rate of 1.200 EUR plus 19% VAT for 2026, covering up to 200 guests, 6 to 8 hours of music plus sound and lighting for one room or hall. GEMA fees are additional.
This flat rate does not apply to private celebrations or club events. In those cases I look at the actual framework and make you an individual offer rather than throw some generic New Year’s Eve price at you.

Whether it is a club celebration, a tournament or a school sports day, I can accompany this kind of event musically and technically without turning it into an artificial fairground. The point is not to drown every moment in sound, but to be properly present where announcements, music and a clear running order genuinely help the event.
That means suitable sound for smaller grounds or halls, wireless microphones for moderation, speeches and awards, and if required, somebody who can handle the microphone properly as well. If you need someone who does more than place cables and stand back, that can be arranged too.
And yes, music is naturally part of it. Not as an end in itself, but so that entrances, breaks, award ceremonies or waiting times do not feel like dead air. If a party is planned afterwards, the transition can happily be very smooth.

That is exactly what makes proms and other graduation celebrations so special: they are expected to be several things at once. A little formal, a little emotional, a little reflective, and later on a proper party too. That works well when the running order and the technical side are prepared properly instead of being pushed together in a panic on the night itself.
I can support that with suitable sound for speeches, video clips or programme items, with wireless microphones and of course with music once the official part should finally make way for party mood. The evening may certainly become relaxed. It just should not come unstuck at the points that can easily be planned well beforehand.
And because your year group is not the only one trying to celebrate in late spring and early summer, here comes the slightly unromantic but important part: secure your date in good time. Around then, an astonishing number of people want to get married, celebrate or otherwise make noise.
