My name is Jens-Peter Weismantel. I first started gaining experience as a DJ back in 1992, and later spent many years as a radio DJ on online radio. Since 2015 I have been self-employed under the name Mobiler Musikservice, providing music for celebrations where the soundtrack should not merely run in the background, but genuinely fit the occasion.
What matters to me is that a celebration should not follow some standard pattern that could simply be thrown over any group of guests. Every person is different, so every evening may look different as well. What do you want for your event? That is the question worth discussing properly, rather than relying on ready-made concepts.
The right time to get in touch

For me that means looking closely, staying musically flexible and not pretending forty guests will automatically share the same three favourite songs.
Some people imagine the DJ’s job to be surprisingly simple: press a button, music plays, dance floor fills. If only it worked that way, I could take a lot more breaks. Especially at private celebrations, the real work lies in bringing together very different guests musically without the evening falling apart.

What I mean by that slightly contradictory opening is simple: weddings need even more care than an ordinary family celebration. Quite rightly, couples want the important details to be right, because unlike a birthday party that went slightly wrong, you cannot simply say, “We will do it better next year.” This day is meant to be special.
That is why I prepare every wedding carefully with the couple. I prefer the final planning meeting to take place at the venue itself, where we can go through the key moments and avoid the usual clashes in the schedule. I also like to involve the best man, maid of honour or whoever is coordinating surprises, so their plans support the celebration instead of colliding with it.
The district of Spree-Neiße offers plenty of wedding venues. If you are already looking for a DJ, chances are you have found your venue – perhaps you have even booked it. That is exactly what I am bookable for as a DJ on New Year’s Eve. If the evening only truly catches fire around midnight, a slow musical stroll does not help. New Year’s Eve may start off relaxed, but by the time the countdown approaches it should be clear that this is not just about chilled sparkling wine – the party itself needs to mean business.
What many people underestimate is this: for service providers, New Year’s Eve is not some romantic exception, but a working date with particularly high demand. That is why the fee is noticeably higher than on a normal date. That is neither rip-off nor bad mood, just the difference between an ordinary Saturday and the one night when half the country wants to celebrate.
For commercial New Year’s Eve events in Döbern, I currently offer a flat rate of 1.200 EUR plus 19% VAT for 2026, covering up to 200 guests, 6 to 8 hours of music plus sound and lighting for one room or hall. GEMA fees are additional.
This flat rate does not apply to private celebrations or club events. In those cases I look at the actual framework and make you an individual offer rather than throw some generic New Year’s Eve price at you.

That is exactly where a DJ can make sense for reasons other than partying. Music can create atmosphere without pushing itself to the front, smooth transitions and give a business event more life without making it feel like a disco. Then there is the technical side: clear speech for announcements, wireless microphones for moderation and a setup that still works properly if the official part later turns into something more sociable.
I accompany such events in a way that keeps them professional without making them sterile. And if people do want to celebrate after the presentation, reception or award ceremony, there is no need to reinvent half the setup. The technical side is already there and the atmosphere can shift naturally into the evening.

That is exactly why such evenings rarely work like ordinary parties. Often there is a more formal part first, with speeches, awards, food or programme items, and later the event is supposed to turn into a proper celebration. At that point you very quickly notice whether music is merely being played somewhere or whether someone is actually carrying the evening from “still seated smartly at the tables” to “now we are finally celebrating”.
I support graduation events with the sound and equipment needed both for the programme and for the party afterwards, with solid audio and with the awareness that this evening is not only for a few friends, but often also for parents, teachers and other guests. That does not need to feel stiff, but it should not be chaotic either.
And one well-meant piece of advice before you get lost in decoration, themes and entrance ideas: book your DJ early. Graduation parties land right in the middle of a season already under pressure from weddings, summer parties and all sorts of other celebrations. Anyone leaving it too late should not be surprised if their preferred option has already gone.
