Since 2015 I have been self-employed, providing music for weddings, birthdays, family celebrations and other occasions where music, atmosphere and people should work together rather than compete.
I do not believe in forcing celebrations into one rigid template just because that makes planning feel easier. People celebrate differently, guests react differently, and the evening may look different for exactly that reason. I would much rather you tell me openly what you want than have some generic programme dumped on top of your event.
The right time to get in touch
Once the venue for your celebration in Burg is fixed, the enquiry can follow straight away. For dates between May and September, a lead time of around 6 to 12 months makes sense. From October to April, 1 to 3 months is often enough. Of course there are always exceptions, but enquiring too early is usually far less of a problem than enquiring too late.

For me that does not mean running through a prepared list, but finding the right curve between singalongs, dancing, recognition and the occasional breather at the right moment.
In Burg, an evening like this usually begins much like it does elsewhere: first people talk, eat and observe, later the mood gradually tips towards party mode. What I mean by that slightly confusing opening is simple: weddings demand even more care than an ordinary family celebration. Quite rightly, couples aim for a very high level of perfection, because unlike a birthday party that went slightly wrong, you cannot just say, “We will do it better next year.” This day is meant to be uniquely beautiful.
That is exactly why every wedding is something special to me as a DJ. I prefer to prepare weddings together with the couple in a personal meeting at the venue itself. In that final conversation we go through every highlight of the celebration so as little as possible is left to chance and typical planning mistakes can be avoided. I also speak with the person taking on the role of toastmaster so that guests planning surprises get the support they need as well.
By the time a couple starts looking for a DJ, the venue is often already fixed or at least very clearly taking shape. Another thing that becomes obvious fairly quickly is the marked north-south divide in the region’s venue landscape. In the larger southern cities there is a noticeably better choice of refined wedding spaces, while in the north, especially around the Altmark, the selection tends to be smaller and more rustic.

Then there is the technical side: clear speech for announcements, wireless microphones for moderation and a setup that still works properly if the official part later turns into something more sociable.
I accompany such events in a way that keeps them professional without making them sterile. And if people do want to celebrate after the presentation, reception or award ceremony, there is no need to reinvent half the setup. The technical side is already there and the direction can simply be turned further.

Especially at relaxed celebrations, not every minute needs to be tightly choreographed. Sometimes all it takes is a microphone, the right song and one guest who can either sing surprisingly well or with excellent confidence do the exact opposite. In both cases, entertainment is guaranteed.
The karaoke package includes around 300 songs from evergreen classics to newer chart material, two wireless microphones, a monitor on a stand for the lyrics, playback through my DJ sound system and of course title lists so that people do not have to spend ten minutes debating what can actually be sung.

Sometimes it is a classic prom with a formal part, sometimes more of a graduation party where people do not want to hang around too long once dinner is over. Both are perfectly fine. The only important thing is that technology, programme and music work together instead of tripping over one another. On evenings like this, rough transitions show far more quickly than people would like.
I can accompany your event from the first programme point to the later party section: with suitable sound for speeches and performances, with wireless microphones where needed and of course with music once the formal part should finally become a celebration. First there may still be several generations in the room, later the dance floor should not fall asleep. That is exactly why a DJ is there and not merely as a living speaker stand.
One more recommendation I would really make: do not leave the booking until the very last minute. Graduation events fall right into a season when lots of people want to celebrate at once. The earlier the date is fixed, the easier everything else becomes.
