Who I am
My name is Jens-Peter Weismantel. I first started gaining experience as a DJ back in 1992, and later spent many years as a radio DJ on online radio. Since 2015 I have been self-employed under the name Mobiler Musikservice, providing music for celebrations where the soundtrack should not merely run in the background, but genuinely fit the occasion.
What matters to me is that a celebration should not follow some standard pattern that could simply be thrown over any group of guests. Every person is different, so every evening may look different as well. What do you want for your event? That is the question worth discussing properly, rather than relying on ready-made concepts.
The right time to get in touch
Once the venue for your celebration in Mitte is fixed, the enquiry can follow straight away. For dates between May and September, a lead time of around 6 to 12 months makes sense. From October to April, 1 to 3 months is often enough. Of course there are always exceptions, but enquiring too early is usually far less of a problem than enquiring too late.
The off-season runs from October to April. Plan your party or Christmas party 1 to 3 months in advance. If you are getting married next year or planning a celebration between May and September, now is a very good time to coordinate your preferred dates early. That is exactly what makes private celebrations interesting. Whether it is a milestone birthday, a coming-of-age celebration, a family anniversary or a silver wedding: everyone should have a good evening even though they rarely share exactly the same taste in music. For me that does not mean working through a prepared list, but finding the right balance between singalongs, dancing, familiar favourites and the occasional breather.
In Mitte, an evening like this usually begins much as it does anywhere else: people talk, eat and settle in, and later the mood gradually shifts towards the dance floor. That is where a good sense of timing matters, because sometimes only one song lies between “not too wild just yet” and “why is nobody dancing?”.
I take my cue from your preferences, from the reactions in the room and of course from suitable requests. At a private celebration, the point is not to put the DJ at the centre, but to keep the evening moving in a way that as many guests as possible remember fondly.

That is exactly what makes weddings different from many other celebrations for me. Music, timing, surprises and atmosphere all interact much more closely. If something jars or slips out of place, people notice it far more quickly than they would at an ordinary party. That is why it is worth discussing the key points in advance instead of hoping improvisation will save the evening.
This is also why I prepare weddings more thoroughly than other events. I work through the schedule, the important highlights and the musical direction with my couples so the evening feels coherent rather than stiff. I also like to involve the wedding party or toastmaster, because surprise contributions should support the celebration rather than trip it up.
When couples start looking for a DJ, the venue is often already booked or at least close to being decided. Maybe you have made your choice; maybe you are still comparing two or three favourites nearby. Hotel Palace Berlin in Tiergarten might be one of them. The borough of Mitte gives you plenty to choose from, and once the date and venue are becoming firm, it is best not to leave the DJ enquiry too long.

There is also a clear move away from the highly polished princess-wedding idea. More and more couples are looking for raw brick, converted industrial buildings and locations with story and texture. Berlin offers plenty of those – and that is precisely what makes the city interesting for weddings.

That is exactly what I am bookable for as a DJ on New Year’s Eve. If the evening only truly catches fire around midnight, a slow musical stroll does not help. New Year’s Eve may start off relaxed, but by the time the countdown approaches it should be clear that this is not just about chilled sparkling wine – the party itself needs to mean business.
What many people underestimate is this: for service providers, New Year’s Eve is not some romantic exception, but a working date with particularly high demand. That is why the fee is noticeably higher than on a normal date. That is neither rip-off nor bad mood, just the difference between an ordinary Saturday and the one night when half the country wants to celebrate.
For commercial New Year’s Eve events in Mitte, I currently offer a flat rate of 1.200 EUR plus 19% VAT for 2026, covering up to 200 guests, 6 to 8 hours of music plus sound and lighting for one room or hall. GEMA fees are additional.
This flat rate does not apply to private celebrations or club events. In those cases I look at the actual framework and make you an individual offer rather than throw some generic New Year’s Eve price at you.

For me, emergency DJ service means this: your enquiry arrives later than 72 hours before music start time or the booking itself only happens within the final 48 hours before it. At that point, we are no longer talking about relaxed planning but about a short-notice operation with very clear limits.

Those limits should be known fairly. I no longer prepare the event in the usual detailed way, which means no extensive request and no-go lists and no miracles for songs I do not already have in stock. My job at that point is not to recreate a concept that was planned for months, but to use judgement, experience and a broad repertoire to put together a functioning and hopefully very good evening. For weddings, that also means it is wise to have alternative titles ready for the first dance and other fixed moments.

That is exactly where karaoke shines. Guests entertain guests, someone suddenly discovers their inner pop star, and the rest of the room wavers somewhere between applause, laughter and loud support, depending on the talent level involved. Boredom is rarely an issue.
For that, I bring a ready-made karaoke package: about 300 songs in German and English, two wireless microphones, a 24.5-inch monitor on a stand for the lyrics and clean playback via my DJ system. Song lists are naturally included, too, so nobody has to guess what is available.
The current price for the karaoke package is 129,00 EUR.
And just for the avoidance of doubt before the question even gets a running start: no, the package is not available as a stand-alone booking and not as simple equipment hire. With me, karaoke is always an add-on to your party.
